Playing Catch Up!

For my mom's birthday..we went to the Monster Truck Jam this past weekend!!! It was great..went with my mom, both brothers, sister, and 3.5 of my 6.5 nieces and nephews :) . I was able to whip out 3 'monster truck' shirts...but as you can see in the pictures...they were really just some kind of 4 door vehicle that resembled monster trucks. They worked and served their purpose well...especially since I live 45 miles (one way) to the nearest Hobby Lobby and Super Wal*mart. Can't exactly drive around the corner and pick up the perfect fabrics...but hey...they were happy :) I was happy!

This is what S's shirt looked like before I got to know my picker
just a little bit better...so that I could add a green border!!(no picture with border)
 Little Miss E's shirt

WoW ..how time has flown!

I have MANY projects and pictures to post on here :) ..I have been busy...but work has noticed :(  !! Luckly the gin I work for has finished ginning all the cotton within a 62 mile radius!!! Whewww what a year..started ginning the 9th of October and finished the 31st of January and finished with over 84,000 bales of cotton leaving here and now sitting in one of 10 barns at Lov-Cot. Each bale weighs at least 450 pounds!!! Thats a whole lotta cotton!!!
Hopefully I will have my picture posted and linked (correctly) to various blogs :)
...OHhhh and I recently WON my 2nd giveaway :) :) :) ...The first win was a pattern from MADE so I could make a summer dress with the technique of 'shirring' ...but Im still scared to attempt it ..even though one of the steps is to 'shrink' elastic thread with the iron sounds like a lot of fun to watch it all come together!! I really need to just jump into it!
My recent win is going to be for nephew- S who is 3 years old, neice- S who is 18 months, and a 'bun in the oven' - due in July! ..Im pretty excited to squeeze the little treasures....I was talking about the 'giveaway' BUT it goes for S and S too!!

Im sorry I haven't repsonded to the comments about my serger...she is a Juno Junome (named JUNE)  :) but thats all I remember! I have had a piece of paper in my purse FOR EVER that had my notes about the serger on it....I just can't find it now...ooopsss!! I'll get onto that tonight and --cross your fingers-- I will be full of time to post tomorrow :)  .
Got to go..... since we finished ginning ...I get off work at FIVE O'CLOCK-->wooooohooooo<-- man if feels great to get home in the daylight! Gives me time to sew sew sew :)

End of the Chrismas towels!

I just realized...its been 3 weeks since I last posted! Working in a cotton gin during ginning season is hectic...and doesn't allow for much -me- time after (or during) working 12+ hours a day! I did finish all the towels...but JUST in the nick of time..phewww! My sister actually received my box on friday!!!
Out of all the kiddos...the oldest two (6 and 7)  were pretty upset that I hadn't given them a --toy--! Ha..well.. little do they know that this here auntie will no longer be giving them toys...each of their bedrooms, the guest room, and the playroom are FULL of toys! Anything from Barbies to dinosaurs to Polly Pocket to Littlest Pet Shop and even My Little Pony!!! You name it ..they have it...and Im tired of seeing the toys I HAD previously given pushed aside into a corner because they have so much play with and can't remember what they already have. (End of venting!)
I was pleased with the work that I accomplished...I can't get any better if I just keep buying the kiddos toys =) So here you have the rest of the towel pictures!

One last thing..have you ever tried putting a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup into a Sugar Cookie?! WOW they are good!

Christmas gifts...

I first saw this idea in a book I purchased..I'll try and remember what it was called, but there are tutorials covering these too! I probably started about 3 months ago, hoping to finish at least 2 towel sets a month so I'd have plenty on non-stressing out days.Well that didn't happen..and it is now a week before Christmas and I STILL have 3 more to sew!! EEeek! Looks like it'll be a long night tonight, I HAVE to finish 2 by monday so they can be shipped across the US in time for my niece and nephew to open! And since I'm leaving thursday to head south on my 10 hour road trip to my moms..not only am I worried about finishing these up but also about remembering to pack everything! (Sally is going to be tagging along...buckled up in her case in the passenger seat next to me!) ...No Sally is not my dog...she's my Singer sewing machine!

                                    One year old boy:

                                    Five year old girl

                                          Six year old girl
Next on list:
3 year old boy
1 year old girl
7 year old girl
Hopefully finishing all 3 tonight and tomorrow!
I forgot to mention all of my many friends having babies!! I have been one heck of an appliquing fool ...have to learn some how right?! :)

A question to all with sergers!

I am posting this in hopes that SOMEBODY will be able to provide me with their knowledge on serging! If you have a serger would you please please please let me know which one you own, as well as the positive and negatives that come with using it :) With all these Thanksgiving sales happening I am being pulled into making a purchase this weekend! As this is my first ever post ...I thank you ahead of time for taking the time to help out! I can't wait for the opportunity to sew dresses for my nieces that they can wear time and again.

-As my new saying..on my new blog goes...Thank you from the bottom of my beginners heart! =] Just a girl sewing on Sally the Singer in the middle of a red dirt sand storm.
